“If we had followed the rules of the industry, Rapha would not exist”

In July 2004, Rapha introduced itself to the world with a month-long exhibition at London’s Old Truman Brewery entitled ‘Kings of Pain’. It showcased six heroes from cycling’s golden era and beyond: Fausto Coppi, Jacques Anquetil, Raymond Poulidor, Tom Simpson, Eddy Merckx and Bernard Hinault. These were riders who perfectly captured the glory and suffering – and style – of road racing. They, along with many others, continue to prove a source of inspiration.

Today, Rapha is far more than just a product company. In addition to an online emporium of performance roadwear, lifestyle clothing, accessories and publications, the Rapha brand now includes a membership club, stores (“clubhouses”), luxury travel, and partnerships with some of the most successful and progressive names in the pro peloton, an endorsement of Rapha’s design philosophy at the highest level of the sport.
